Very satisfied with PC-BSD ( FreeBSD 7.2 beneath the bonnet). Currently running it on three computers namely; a Toshiba P20 801 17” laptop and two netbooks, the Samsung NC10 and the Acer Aspire One 150 with a 1GB RAM Intel 945 board and Atom N270 processor. Almost everything runs flawlessly on all the above except for SD card interface and a few peripherals such as a USB TV tuner, which works under Linux but not FreeBSD. Apart from dual booting issues, ( I run the OS from a tiny external USB LaCie hard drive as most computers can nowadays boot from external storage with the netbooks with similar hardware specs) it's been a pleasure to use. Screen geometry was detected on all machines with 3D graphics capability working out of the box as were the sound cards and Atheros 5000 series WiFi adapters. It found my router immediately after installation ( 3 MiFi mobile wireless router). I would recommend it for anyone wanting to experience another Unix-like OS apart from Linux and any wanting a more BSD UNIX® feel. The package management is highly simplified for newbies although the terminal is there for those who want to tweak and freak.
