SSL encrypts your order information to avoid the decoding of that information by anyone other than thelinuxshop.co.uk. To check the security of your connection, look at the left corner of your browser address bar during checkout . If you see a closed padlock or an unbroken key (depending upon your browser), then SSL is active. (You can also double-check by looking at the URL line of your browser. When accessing a secure server, the first characters of the site address will change from "http" to "https".)
Some versions of browsers and some firewalls do not permit communication through secure servers. In that case, you will be unable to connect to the server so you will not have to worry about mistakenly placing an order through an unsecured connection. If you cannot access the secure server for whatever reason, you may, at your own discretion, manually change the leading "https:" to "http:" to check-out using the non-encrypted manner. Our site uses cookies to keep track of your shopping cart. If cookies are unavailable, the software running our site will use encrypted strings in the URL line to keep track of your session information.
