Lubuntu Linux 26.04 LTS on DVD is the latest LTS version and is a lightweight and user-friendly operating system, perfect for both newcomers and experienced users. Built on the Ubuntu 26.04 LTS base (codenamed Resolute Raccoon), it ensures a stable and reliable experience.

One of the standout features of Lubuntu is its Long Term Support (LTS) designation. This means that Lubuntu 26.04 will receive updates and support until April 2029, providing users with a secure and stable environment without the need for frequent upgrades.

Lubuntu is designed to be fast and efficient, making it an excellent choice for older hardware or systems with limited resources. This release marks a significant milestone as the first LTS to ship with a primarily Qt 6-based environment via LXQt 2.3, bringing improved theming through Kvantum and a modernised "Fancy Menu" application launcher.

Included with Lubuntu 26.04 LTS are a variety of essential applications to get you started right away. Some of the pre-installed software includes:

Firefox 149 - A fast and secure web browser (shipped as a snap package).
LibreOffice 26.2 - A powerful office suite for all your document needs.
VLC 3.0.23 - A robust media player that supports a wide range of audio and video formats.
Featherpad 1.6.2 - A lightweight and feature-rich text editor.
Discover Software Center 6.6.3 - An easy graphical tool to find and install new applications.
Transmission - A lightweight BitTorrent client for downloading files.

Lubuntu uses the APT (Advanced Package Tool) as its package manager, allowing users to easily install, update, and manage software packages from the command line or through graphical interfaces like Synaptic Package Manager. This makes it simple to keep your system up to date and to find new applications to enhance your experience.
