Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu, a well-established Linux distribution that itself is derived from Debian. First introduced in 2006, Linux Mint aimed to create a system that was both powerful and easy to use. Over the years, it has evolved into one of the most popular Linux distributions by offering a complete desktop experience out of the box. The MATE edition preserves the traditional desktop metaphor that many users appreciate, making it especially attractive to those who prefer a classic computing experience without unnecessary visual effects.

Linux Mint 22.3 MATE is particularly well-suited for home users who want a dependable and familiar computing environment. If you're new to Linux or transitioning from Windows 10/11, you’ll appreciate the clarity, predictability, and ease of use that MATE provides.
