Ubuntu Budgie 26.10 on 64GB USB Stick
Ubuntu Budgie 26.10 on a bootable 64GB USB stick pairs the Ubuntu platform with a polished Budgie desktop. This Stonking Stingray release focuses on Budgie 10.10.3, refreshed applets and convenient desktop features for everyday use.
Budgie combines panels and application launching with the Raven sidebar for notifications and widgets. It is designed for users who appreciate an organised desktop and want to personalise useful details without spending their day adjusting settings.
Features and benefits
- Budgie 10.10.3: The desktop receives an updated release, with Budgie running on Wayfire in this edition.
- Radio in Raven: A new radio search-and-play widget makes it possible to discover and play radio from the sidebar.
- Weather applet updates: Refinements include additional wind-speed units, alongside other weather improvements.
- More wallpaper options: Wallstreet supports daytime and nighttime wallpapers, with wallpaper-of-the-day choices from Bing and Wikimedia.
- Desktop fixes and newer foundations: Updated translations and a fix for Polkit pop-ups that could freeze the desktop accompany the Ubuntu 26.10 base and Linux kernel 7.3.
What does STS mean?
STS means Short Term Support, a convenient way to describe Ubuntu’s standard, or interim, releases. These editions bring newer Linux kernels, updated desktops and fresh software between LTS releases. Think of them as a way to try the latest and greatest developments that may help shape the next Long Term Support release, without the extended support period of LTS.
Version 26.10 receives nine months of updates, until July 2027. Plan to upgrade to a supported release before that period ends. STS is a full release rather than a beta, but it suits users who are comfortable upgrading more frequently.
Try it from USB
Supplied ready to boot on a 64GB USB stick, Ubuntu Budgie 26.10 lets you explore the live desktop and check your computer’s compatibility before deciding whether to install. Start your computer from the USB and choose the live or try option to explore without installing to your internal drive. An installer is also available when you are ready.
Ubuntu Budgie 26.10 is a good option for users who value an attractive, adaptable workspace with practical widgets and want to explore current Budgie developments. Use the live USB to check graphics, displays and other hardware before installation.
